Ev-chargers.co.nz is the reference directory for EV charger installation in Aotearoa — 12 EWRB-registered installers across 8regions, indexed by tier, switchboard compatibility, and Type-2 hardware standard. The sector has a quoting problem: identical jobs get priced under different tier vocabularies, so buyers can’t compare. We fixed that by defining the three install tiers plainly and only listing installers who quote against the same framework.

§01Listing standards

Every installer on the directory is verified against three non-negotiable criteria: a current EWRB licence (cross-checked against the public register), a minimum $2M public liability policy, and at least 50 documented EV charger installs to AS/NZS 3000 and the Type-2 (IEC 62196) standard. Installations must comply with WorkSafe’s Electrical (Safety) Regulations and any applicable NZTA siting requirements for kerbside or commercial sites. Re-verification runs annually. Listings are editorial — placement is not for sale, and never will be.

§02Editorial stance

Quote requests are routed to up to three vetted installers in the relevant region whose tier coverage and switchboard capability match the brief. The referral fee is itemised on the installer’s quote so buyers can see exactly what it costs — transparency is a condition of being listed, not a courtesy. Rankings are determined by verification status, regional coverage, and dispute history; they are never influenced by commercial relationships.

§03Scope of coverage

• Installer matching only — installations are carried out by the licensed electricians on the directory.
• Lead routing runs through the unified quote form; direct numbers stay with the installer’s own channels.
• Reviews are referenced from Google and the Master Electricians register — the authoritative sources for trade reputation in NZ.
• Hardware is supplied by installers via their accredited Type-2 / Type-2 tethered suppliers; the directory is vendor-neutral.
