Who it suits

  • A longer walk from the charger to the charge port
  • A detached garage or a spot the house Wi-Fi doesn't reach
  • Anyone who wants scheduled off-peak charging they can rely on

Included in this price

  • The charger: Supplied new, with the maker's residential warranty in your name.
  • Mounting: Fixed to a suitable wall in the spot agreed from your photos: timber-framed, weathertight, ground floor.
  • A dedicated circuit: Its own circuit and protection device in your existing switchboard, sized for the charger.
  • The cable run: Surface-mounted cable from the switchboard to the charger, up to the length set in your quote.
  • Testing and commissioning: The electrician tests the installation and sets the charger up on your phone.
  • The Certificate of Compliance: Issued by the registered electrician who did the work, and emailed to you. Your balance is only due after this.

Priced separately, in your quote

  • Switchboard work: An older board with no spare capacity, ceramic fuses or no RCD protection needs work before a charger goes on it.
  • Extra cable: Anything past the cable length in your quote, priced per metre.
  • Brick, block or concrete wall: Harder to fix to and to run cable through than timber framing.
  • Trenching: For a detached garage or carport where the cable has to go underground.
  • A new or upgraded supply: Going to three phase, or lifting your amperage, involves your lines company and is quoted separately.

Never charged unless it was named and priced before you paid.

Questions about the E2 Plus

How much is an E2 Plus installed in New Zealand?

We haven't published ours yet: it needs our installer's written trade price, and we won't post a number we can't honour. For reference, Evnex sells the E2 Plus installed direct for $2,555 as a base estimate, and the published New Zealand range for this kind of job is $1,500 to $2,500. Send your photos and we'll email your fixed price as soon as it's set.

Will the E2 Plus work with my car?

It has a tethered Type 2 connector, which is the standard AC connector on essentially every EV and plug-in hybrid sold new in New Zealand. The thing to check is your car's maximum AC charging rate, which for most cars is 7kW or 11kW.

Do I need three phase?

No. This is a single-phase charger and it runs on the supply almost every New Zealand home already has. Single phase vs three phase.

What if my switchboard needs work?

It's priced in the same quote as a named line, not discovered on the day. The published New Zealand range for switchboard work is $1,500 to $3,000, and a photo of your board with the door open tells us in seconds whether you need it. More on switchboards.

Who installs it, and do I get a certificate?

A registered electrician from our partner installer does all the electrical work, tests it and issues the Certificate of Compliance in their own name. We quote the job and hold the contract with you. We are not electricians. What the certificate is.

When do I pay?

A $500 deposit when you accept the price, fully refundable any time before installation starts. The balance is invoiced only after the Certificate of Compliance is issued.
