What's different about Auckland
Most of Auckland, from Franklin to Wellsford, sits on Vector's network, so Vector is the lines company that has to approve any new or larger connection. A standard 7.4kW charger on an existing single-phase supply usually needs nothing from them: it goes on a new circuit in your existing switchboard, and your electrician notifies the work as normal. It's only when the job needs a bigger supply or a move to three phase that Vector gets involved, and that step is quoted separately because their fees and timeframes are theirs, not ours.

What a standard install covers
- The charger: Supplied new, with the maker's residential warranty in your name.
- Mounting: Fixed to a suitable wall in the spot agreed from your photos: timber-framed, weathertight, ground floor.
- A dedicated circuit: Its own circuit and protection device in your existing switchboard, sized for the charger.
- The cable run: Surface-mounted cable from the switchboard to the charger, up to the length set in your quote.
- Testing and commissioning: The electrician tests the installation and sets the charger up on your phone.
- The Certificate of Compliance: Issued by the registered electrician who did the work, and emailed to you. Your balance is only due after this.

The same 7.4kW charging as the E2 Core, with a longer 8-metre cable and both Wi-Fi and 4G, so it stays connected where the house Wi-Fi doesn't reach the garage.

22kW on a three-phase supply. Only worth it if your home already has three phase and your car accepts more than 7kW of AC charging, which most don't.

How much does EV charger installation cost in Auckland?
The same as everywhere else in New Zealand: $1,500 to $2,500 for a typical 7.4kW single-phase install, charger included. We don't publish regional multipliers because no source supports them. Do you install EV chargers on the North Shore?
The North Shore is inside our Auckland service area, so it's the same process and the same price list as the rest of Auckland. We're contracting our Auckland installer now, so today you can send photos and join the waitlist; we'll email you the fixed price when bookings open.
Will Vector need to be involved?
Usually not. A 7.4kW charger on an existing single-phase supply is a new circuit in your switchboard, which your electrician handles. Vector only comes into it if the supply itself has to change, for example a move to three phase or a bigger main fuse. That work is quoted separately, because the lines company sets the fee and the timeframe.
How long does an Auckland install take?
A standard install is normally a half-day job on site. Switchboard work adds time, and anything that needs Vector adds weeks, not days. Your quote says which of those you're in before you pay anything.
Who does the electrical work?
A registered electrician from our contracted installer for the region. They do all the electrical work, test it and issue the Certificate of Compliance in their own name. We quote the job, hold the contract with you and manage it. We are not electricians and hold no electrical registration.
When do I pay?
A $500 deposit only if you accept the price, fully refundable any time before installation starts. The balance is invoiced once the Certificate of Compliance is issued. How it works.
