For installers

Install with us

We sell home EV charger installs at a fixed price worked out from customer photos, then subcontract the work to a registered electrician. You get quoted, paid jobs with the sales, paperwork and payment collection already done. We're contracting our first installer in each of six regions now.

What the arrangement is

EV Charger Co.is the seller. We take the enquiry, get the photos, price the job with you, hold the contract with the customer and collect the money. You do the electrical work as our subcontractor and issue the Certificate of Compliance in your own name, because you're the one who did it. We never describe ourselves as electricians and never hold ourselves out as registered.

What we need from you

  • Current EWRB registration and practising licence for every electrician on the work. We check each one on the public register and keep the evidence
  • Public liability insurance, and a copy of the certificate
  • An Evnex trade account, or the ability to get one
  • Written rates: a standard install rate against the definition below, plus per-metre cable, switchboard work, brick or block walls and trenching
  • A turnaround you can actually hold, and a workmanship warranty we can pass on to the customer in writing
  • A price back to us on a photo set within 2 working days

What you get

  • Jobs that are already sold and already paid a deposit on, with the scope agreed in writing
  • No quoting time on your side beyond reading a photo set
  • No chasing money. We invoice the customer and pay you on our own terms, not theirs
  • A scope that doesn't move: extras are agreed with the customer in writing before you start

How the money works

You supply the charger at your Evnex trade price and invoice us per job at the agreed subcontract rate once you've supplied the Certificate of Compliance. We pay by bank transfer within 7 days of the customer's balance clearing. The customer pays us a $500deposit up front and the balance after the CoC, so the job is funded before you start. There's no lead fee, no listing fee and nothing for you to pay us.

The standard install we sell against

  • The charger: Supplied new, with the maker's residential warranty in your name.
  • Mounting: Fixed to a suitable wall in the spot agreed from your photos: timber-framed, weathertight, ground floor.
  • A dedicated circuit: Its own circuit and protection device in your existing switchboard, sized for the charger.
  • The cable run: Surface-mounted cable from the switchboard to the charger, up to the length set in your quote.
  • Testing and commissioning: The electrician tests the installation and sets the charger up on your phone.
  • The Certificate of Compliance: Issued by the registered electrician who did the work, and emailed to you. Your balance is only due after this.

If that definition doesn't match how you work, tell us on the form. It's a starting point for the subcontract, not a take-it-or-leave-it.

We'll come back within 2 working days. Nothing here is published on the site, and we don't name an installer anywhere without written permission.

We check it on the NZBN register.
