What's different about Wellington
Wellington city, Porirua and the Hutt Valley are on the Wellington Electricity network. Two things make Wellington jobs different in practice, and both show up in your photos: a lot of the housing stock is on steep or split-level sites, so the run from the switchboard to the parking spot is often longer than the 5 metres a tethered charger's cable covers, and older Wellington and Hutt board houses often have a switchboard that predates RCD requirements. Both are priced in the quote rather than discovered on the day.

What a standard install covers
- The charger: Supplied new, with the maker's residential warranty in your name.
- Mounting: Fixed to a suitable wall in the spot agreed from your photos: timber-framed, weathertight, ground floor.
- A dedicated circuit: Its own circuit and protection device in your existing switchboard, sized for the charger.
- The cable run: Surface-mounted cable from the switchboard to the charger, up to the length set in your quote.
- Testing and commissioning: The electrician tests the installation and sets the charger up on your phone.
- The Certificate of Compliance: Issued by the registered electrician who did the work, and emailed to you. Your balance is only due after this.

22kW on a three-phase supply. Only worth it if your home already has three phase and your car accepts more than 7kW of AC charging, which most don't.

Questions about Wellington
How much does EV charger installation cost in Wellington?
The same as everywhere else in New Zealand: $1,500 to $2,500 for a typical 7.4kW single-phase install, charger included. We don't publish regional multipliers because no source supports them. Do you cover Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt?
Yes, the Hutt Valley and Porirua are in our Wellington service area, on the same price list. We're contracting our Wellington installer now, so right now you can send photos and join the waitlist.
My parking is down a driveway, away from the house. Can that work?
Often yes, but it's the single biggest price variable in Wellington. The distance from the switchboard to the charger sets the cable length, and a run to a detached garage or a lower parking pad may need trenching. Show us the route in your photos and it gets priced in the quote.
My switchboard looks old. Is that a problem?
It's very common and not a dealbreaker. What matters is whether the board has spare capacity and RCD protection. If it doesn't, the switchboard work goes in the same quote with a price on it, rather than turning up as a surprise on install day.
Who does the electrical work?
A registered electrician from our contracted installer for the region. They do all the electrical work, test it and issue the Certificate of Compliance in their own name. We quote the job, hold the contract with you and manage it. We are not electricians and hold no electrical registration.
When do I pay?
A $500 deposit only if you accept the price, fully refundable any time before installation starts. The balance is invoiced once the Certificate of Compliance is issued. How it works.
